So, I’m going to preface this blog by saying this piece is not about shoes. I know, I know, rare for me. Today, I’m going to talk to you about my other love. Binging on TV. Nothing brings me quite as much joy than hunting the boys out of the lounge room, donning a pair of stretchy trackies and having a tub of lemon sorbet at the ready. Also? With many of us still isolating / not wanting to go out due to COVID-19/Winter or the CBF’s (can’t be f*cked), it seemed appropriate to highlight some of the goodies coming your way this August.
Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story
If you devoured the first season starring our very own Eric Bana and Connie Britton, you’ll enjoy the second instalment. Based on a headline-making crime, The Betty Broderick Story stars Amanda Peet and Christian Slater. I won’t give it away, but there’s murder, high-society and a thrilling ‘whodunnit’ vibe.
[UN]WELL
This docuseries explores the wellness industry and asks the question “is it an industry focussed on health and healing or profit-first?”.
Now, I make it a priority to look after myself with, daily walks, mediation, yoga, good food etc but when we get to goats milk cleanses and steaming hoo-ha’s, I’m generally OUT. Half the time, I reckon the wellness ‘experts’ make it up as they go along. It will be *very* interesting to see what comes out of this one.
The Rain, Season 3
The Rain is an excellent watch if you need to do your binging with teens in tow. The boys and I luuurve it. It’s kinda topical [errily so] too. Basically, there’s a rain-bourne virus that wipes out most of Scandinavia’s population. Two siblings join a band of young survivors to find answers.
It’s the ultimate disaster/pandemic series and there are three whole seasons of it to devour.
Yellowstone
If you haven’t given this show a crack yet, YOU. ARE. MISSING. OUT. It’s got it all. Kevin Costner. Sweeping Montana vistas. Cowboys. Shifting alliances. Unsolved Murders. A bit more Kevin Costner and a whole lotta drama.
I will warn you though, it’s highly addictive. I refreshed Stan like 5 times waiting for the new ep this week!
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Trilogy
If you enjoy gripping thrillers with the added grit of European sensibilities [they are TOUGH AF!], this is for you.
Basically, Lisbeth [the protagonist] is a brilliant but troubled hacker. She doesn’t connect with many people and typically lives a very hermit-esk life. That is until she meets Michael Bloomfest and they stumble on a secret which they, of course, set out to expose.
Can’t WAIT to watch this one again!
And since you’ve read this far? We’ve got something exciting dropping here at Avarcas Australia on 1st August.
NEW GEMSTONE: Lime Vintage
Peridot is the gemstone for August babes and we thought we’d celebrate with a new release, Lime Vintage.
Peridot symbolises strength and it’s believed the stone was made from the tears of a volcano goddess. It’s said to protect the wearer from nightmares.
Yeah, I don’t know about any of that but it’s SUCH a pretty shade!
Pre-order yours from this Saturday 1st August to Monday 10th August for delivery towards the end of September.
So, um, I lied. I did talk about shoes. But you know, two birds/one stone and all of that?!
What will you be watching this August?
