Avarcas Care
NUBUCK LEATHER
Grain or smooth side of leather, buffed with an abrasive action giving a velvety surface finish.
Prior to wearing, Avarcas Australia recommends using a Water & Stain protector such as Collonil Nubuk + Velours Classic* in Neutral. The spray prevents water and dirt penetrating the leather which causes staining. When waterproofing black Avarcas you can select the Collonil Nubuk + Velours Classic* in Black. Continued use of waterproofer will maintain the best result.
To reinvigorate your tired Avarcas or remove scuff marks there are a variety of products on the market including; Suede/Nubuck brush, cleaning block, mousse cleaner and shampoo
NAPPA LEATHER (Smooth Leather)
Full grain leather drummed to give a soft and comfortable feel.
Prior to wearing, Avarcas Australia recommends using a Water & Stain protector such as Collonil Classic Waterstop*. The spray prevents water and dirt penetrating the leather which causes staining. Continued use of waterproofer will maintain the best result.
To reinvigorate your tired Avarcas there is a variety of cleaning products on the market including; Collonil Classic Clean & Care Foam* or Waproo Renovating Polish* with the careful following of product instructions.
METALLIC LEATHER
Created through bonding a metallic foil with the underlying leather.
Prior to wearing, Avarcas Australia recommends using a Water & Stain protector such as Collonil Vario Spray* (designed for metallic leathers). Frequent treatment is recommended if shoes are worn often.
Metallic leather is a delicate material and like all metallic finishes, with time and abrasion, some surface finishing may be lost. If the foiling is scratched or scuffed it will expose the leather underneath. While with most non-metallic smooth leathers these can be covered with a coloured polish there is no process to re-foil shoes. Unfortunately, there is no way to re-foil shoes, if the shiny stuff is scuffed off...it's off for good.
The best maintenance is to be careful when wearing them!
GLITTER LEATHER
Glitter Avarcas are delicate so please handle with care and love. As with all glitter finishes, with time and abrasion, some glitter loss may occur. This is not a fault and the glitter finish cannot be re-applied.
We advise against treating with any liquids/sprays especially containing alcohol as this will damage the finish.
If your glitter Avarcas have lost their lustre, gently wipe down with a clean, soft cloth to dislodge any dried dirt. Then gently dab over with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not use any cleaning products.
PONY HAIR LEATHER
Pony hair is a cowhide that’s been shaved to look like the hair on the hide of a horse. So, the word ‘Pony’ is used to describe the look of the skin.
Pony Hair can be damaged by rough usage and some hair loss is expected during wear.
If your Pony Hair becomes dirty you can wipe smoothly in the direction of the hair with a damp cloth, try not to get them too wet in the process. You can spray with suitable protective spray for pony skin to protect from general wear and tear. Not all protective sprays are meant for pony hair, so be sure to read the label before purchasing a spray.
To remove stains, first let all stains dry, and then brush them off the hair and/or surface. If the has penetrated the skin, unfortunately, there is little you can do to remove it.
*Remember to always follow the instructions on the product and spot test prior to use.
